Mason City, Ill., Dec 1. – Dudley Price, 81 years old, for over 50 years a resident of Mason City, passed away at the Soldiers Hospital at Quincy, Ill., where he had gone for treatment yesterday after an illness of several weeks.
He is survived by his widow, Sarah Griffin Price [Why is Sarah Ellen Newberry given as Sarah Griffin? Her mother was: Charlotte Jane Griffin Her father was John Newberry, She was called "Nellie"], and the following children: Mrs. Lizzie Lackley [Lackey], Adda, Kas.; Mrs. Muriel Young, Teheran, Ill.; Earl, Lincoln, Neb.; John, Edward, William, Bert and Mrs. William Pruitt, all of Mason city.
His widow and sons, John and Bert were at this bedside when he passed away.
Mr. Price was born in Indiana in 1843. He moved west to Illinois and Mason City some time later and married Miss Sarah Ellen Griffin [Newberry] here. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last March.
Memorial services for Mr. Price will be held in Quincy tomorrow afternoon at 2'oclock. Services will be in charge of the G. A. R. of that place.
