Lindsay J. Blanchette, 25, of Boyd passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at her parents' home, following a long and courageous battle with cancer, with family and friends at her side and under the care of St. Joseph's hospice.
She was born on March 21, 1983, the daughter of Jim and Pam (Rank) Blanchette in Chippewa Falls. Lindsay attended Jim Falls elementary school kindergarten through fifth grade, and then Chippewa Falls Middle School, and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 2001.
She then attended UW-Eau Claire and graduated with a bachelor's degree in communication disorders. Prior to Lindsay's illness, she was employed at United Health Care in Eau Claire. She was very active in the Jim Town Jumpers 4-H Club, track and field, tennis, orchestra, taught CCD and was a member of the National Honor Society.
She is survived by her parents, Jim and Pam Blanchette; loving boyfriend, Mike Schuebel; brothers and sisters, Cory (Pat) Douglas and daughter Hailey, Nick (Allisha) Blanchette, Julie Blanchette and boyfriend, Matt Flater, and kids, Paige and Brock; maternal grandparents, Norma (Red) Daniels; special grandpa, Clayton Hanley; lifelong friend Stacy (Lueck) Steinke; her beloved cats, Ally and Maddy; many other close relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by maternal grandpa, Don Rank; paternal grandparents, Lester and Sylvia Blanchette; nephew, Derek Hammond; and uncle, Tom Blanchette.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jim Falls, with Fr. James Weighner officiating. Interment will be in Copp Cemetery in the town of Anson.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Leiser Funeral Home in Cadott, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil prayer service Thursday.
Lindsay enjoyed biking, riding four-wheelers, the annual Blanchette family fishing trip to Canada, Country Fest, cooking, photography and spending time with children. She was well-known for her outgoing personality and her sincere love for her family and friends.
Lindsay greatly appreciated the love and support of the community during her benefit and throughout her fight with cancer. She will be remembered for her courage and strength and will be deeply missed.
