David Wolpert was born in 1833 in Ohio to German immigrant parents; John Frederick Wolpert and Christina Lauterbach. had one brother; John and seven sisters; Mary Eppley, Sarah Moody, Susan Dozer, Sophia Staker, Maria Aichele, Elizabeth Davis and Margaret Parmer. David came westward to Colorado as many did in 1859 seeking gold or silver and were called 59ers. They are considered Colorado Pioneers since they arrived before Colorado was a state. He built the Wolpert Mansion on 9190 Riverdale Road in Adams County Denver. It was a historical landmark until it burned down in 1975.
He married Catherine Henderson in 1864. They had a son David, and two daughters, Lucille and Mary. He also had one brother, John Wolpert, who had settled in the same area, and is buried at Saint Clair Ross Memorial Cemetery in Henderson. He lived in the Mansion for the rest of his life until he died in 1909, and his wife a few years after that until 1913 then it changed hands.
