Ernest L. Alexander passed away August 3, 1950, at the age of 38 in the Kennedy General Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., having been ill for several months.
Services were held at the Steele Baptist Church with Rev. W.H. Cook officiating. Interment was in the National Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn.
Mr. Alexander was a veteran of World War II having served in the European Theatre, as Motor sergeant of the Second Troop Carrier Pathfinder squadron and was awarded a certificate of merit in recognition of conspicuously meritorious and outstand performance of military duty. He was awarded a Bronze Star and a Good Conduct Medal. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. Prior to his death he was connected with the Pemiscot Oil Company. Mr. Alexander was an upstanding citizen in this community and will be sadly missed by his host of friends.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Reba Alexander, his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Alexander, two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Bogard and Mrs. Mary Frakes of Steele; three brothers, Tom Alexander of Humboldt, Tenn., Homer Alexander of Steele, and Robert Alexander of Forrest City, Ark., six nephews and seven nieces. His father, Robert F. Alexander preceded him in death.
