OBITUARY.
Burton Gifford was born in Maine, Sept. 25, 1807, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Malone, in Muscatine county, Iowa, Oct. 7, 1896. He was 89 years, and 11 days old.

He moved with his parents to Ohio, when 8 years old. He moved from there to Pedee, Cedar county, Iowa, in 1854. Was married to Rebecca Worrall, Jan. 29, 1833. She and four children preceeded him to the better land. There are nine children, six girls and three boys surviving. His funeral was preached in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, at Pedee, Oct. 9, by the writer, from John 14:2; II Cor. 5:1, after which the remains were laid to rest in Pedee cemtery.
