Alex was born in Vernon County July 26, 1872 and had spent his life in the surrounding community. He was married to Katie Roberts November 17, 1895. To this union was born four children, Mamie who died in 1922 at the age of 26 years;Hallie of La Farge, Thelma Barnett and Malcolm of California.Alex was a good neighbor and friends. Many are the good deeds left in the memory of his neighbors.
He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, three children, six grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Four brothers; Tom of St. Paul, Minn.; Henry, Joe and Lewis of La Farge, Wis. and Rhoda Wirts of La Farge, Wis., and a host of friends and relatives. The funeral services were held in the Methodist church at La Farge on Monday, June 5, 1944 at 2 p.m.. The services were conducted by Rev.D.W. Anderson of Richland Center, Wis., who based his text on Job 14. He was laid to rest in the Star cemetery.
