John Marshall, a well-known and respected resident and well-to-do farmer of Aurelius Township, died last Wednesday.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Dean of Aurelius, were held at the home Friday forenoon with interment in the Aurelius cemetery. The services were attended by a large number of his friends and neighbors.

Mr. Marshall was born at Wantage, Sussex County, N.J. March 5, 1838. At the age of 14 (in 1852) he moved to Hammondsport, Stueben County, N.Y. He united with the Baptist Church there,

In 1855 he moved to this township of Aurelius. John joined the Aurelius Baptist Church on Feb. 12, 1870, and later that year he was elected to a committee to collect the minister's fund; and in 1871, he was treasurer; in 1872 he was a trustee; and in 1884 he was elected clerk; as well as serving on various other committees.

He was married to Georgianna Elizabeth Seelye in 1868. In 1897 they moved to Eaton Rapids where they resided for 9 years, returning to their farm last March.

Mr. Marshall is survived by his widow, 3 sons, Louis S., John J., Benjamin A., 1 daughter, Hazel A. Marshall; 2 sisters and a large number of friends.

He was the last of 4 brothers, who lived in the township of Aurelius.
