FLORENCE, AL - The funeral for Mrs. Effie Mae Garner, 73, 230 N Franklin St., will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Southwest Community Church, Sheffield, with the Rev. Virgil Tittle officiating. Burial will be in Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery, Elkins Funeral Home, Florence, directing. Visitation will be at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Rosie Wright, 220 Baldwin St., Florence. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. She died Monday, July 18, 1988 at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, Florence. She was born in Colbert County and had lived in Lauderdale County most of her life. She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church, Sheffield, and the wife of the late Bryce Martin Garner. Survivors include sons, Thomas T. Garner, Waterloo, Gerald Ray Garner, Florence, John O. Garner, Park City, Illl., Jackie L. Garner, Tuscumbia; daughters, Mrs. Mary Garner Honeycutt, Liberty, Mo., Mrs. Julie Garner Zills, Rapid City, S.D., Mrs. Rosie Garner Wright, Florence, Mrs. Linda Garner Ivy, Killen; brothers, Austin McCaig, Crooked Oak, Fred McCaig, Montgomery, Hamilton McCaig, Sheffield; 16 grandchildre; nine gret grandchildren. Bearers will be Jackie Davis, KIen Lane, George Mangum, Steve Bonds, Randy Parrish, Wayne McCaig, Randal Patterson and Tim McDonald. (Published in the Times Daily 7-20-1988)
