Donna Jean Barker, 66, of Commiskey died at 6 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at her home.
Mrs. Barker was a homemaker and farmer, and had been a school bus driver for Jennings County Schools for four years. She was a 1959 graduate of Paris Crossing High School and attended Cincinnati Bible College. A member of Coffee Creek Christian Church near Paris Crossing, she enjoyed flowers, gardening, reading and sewing.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Coffee Creek Christian Church with the Revs. Sherman Thomas and Tom Mobley officiating. Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North Vernon and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Coffee Creek Christian Cemetery.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Coffee Creek Christian Church.
Born November 22, 1941, in Lovett, Mrs. Barker was the daughter of Lawrence and Wilda James Gordon. She married Earnest Barker on April 3, 1960, at First Christian Church in North Vernon.
Surviving with her husband are three sons, David Lee Barker and Jonathan Andrew Barker of Commiskey and James Gordon Barker of Ashland, Kentucky; two daughters, Ruth (Sherman) Thomas of Bedford and Donna Sue Barker of Florence, Kentucky; three sisters, Elaine (Byron) Buckley of North Vernon, Alice (Tom) Mobley of Bardstown, Kentucky, and Hazel (Steve) Mobley of Mt. Washington, Kentucky; and seven grandchildren, Ki, Jerry and Charlie Roberts of Commiskey, Kaylee Barker of Lovett and Seth, Eli and Cora Thomas of Bedford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Marilyn Lowe.
