Information below taken from personal journal of Charlotte Gunnell:
SAMUEL HOPKINS, 83, died 25 April 1943 in Soda (struck by a train & killed). Came to Soda 11 Nov 1877 with his folks in a sleigh from Franklin [Idaho]. He was born 15 Sept 1859 in South Wales to Thomas & Christina Summerhill Hopkins. On 9 Jan 1895 he married Rosina Reber. To them were born two sons & seven daughters. The widow and all the children survive – Alma A. Hopkin (sic), Ernest S. Hopkins, Mrs. Violet Coummerrith, Mrs. Ethel Crump, Mrs. Eleda Stock, Mrs. Iris Neff, Mrs. Milda Bowler, Mrs. Edith Ford, Mrs. Jeannette Brecht; one brother, William J. Hopkins. Funeral 29 April 1943 in Soda Burial in Fairview Cemetery in Soda.
