He was born in Jackson County, a son of the late James H. and Lillian Shutts Boyce. He was a farmer, and a member of the Sandyville Church of Christ.
He is survived by four sons, Earl C. of Ravenswood, Lawrence O., and Truman, both of Elizabeth, and Charles W. Boyce of Rockport; four daughters, Opal Miihlbach of Mineral Wells, Garnet Thomas of Sandyville, Lillie C. Gates of Rockport, and Faye Ball of Mineral Wells; two sisters, Tennie Archer of Akron, Ohio, and Eva Moore of Parkersburg; 26 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Thompson Boyce in 1978; a son, Cecil; a daughter, Gladys, a brother, Fred; and two sisters, Dora and Vernie.
Services will be conducted Friday, 2 p.m., at the Franklin & Son Memorial Chapel with Eugene Conger officiating. Burial will be in the Limestone Cemetery.
