Alfred Hayes was wounded at Glasson, Athlone, County Westmeath on 25 August 1922 and died on 29 or 31 August 1922. Lieutenant Séan McCormack killed in same incident. 


He was 19 years old and resided at Spollenstown, Tullamore, Co Offaly.
