San Antonio Espress-News (TX) November 13, 2005 > Evelyn LaVerne Allsup Chumbley, age 82, died Wednesday, November 9, 2005. She was born in San Antonio, TX, on December 24, 1922. Family and friends knew her affectionately as "Beez".

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Dwight "Bud" Chumbley; son David Thomas Chumbley; father Thomas A. Allsup, mother, Eathel Allsup; brothers, Robert Allsup, Lloyd Allsup, and Jack Allsup; sisters, Esther Hull, Cora Watkins, Oletha Mangold, and Gladys Brager.

She is survived by her caring and loving sister, Dorothy Kost of San Antonio. She is also survived by her children and their spouses; Deborah Williams and husband Steve F. Williams; W. Dwight Chumbley and his wife Bonnie; grandsons, W. Cage Chumbley and David H. Chumbley; granddaughters, Stephanie Williams Saucedo, Shelley E. Williams and Lila K. Chumbley; Her great granddaughter, Zoie Saucedo and numerous nieces and nephews, including her beloved niece Virginia Hull Price of Kerryville, also surviving her.

She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. Beez and her husband Bud were both survivors of the Great Depression and World War II. They lived an adventuresome life while chasing work across the country. Their most memorable residences included a parsonage in Peoria, Illinois and a Spanish mansion in Havana. Beez smile filled the room and she lived to laugh. She had a servant's heart and worked for Mr. Ernie Scrivner in his store's coat department. She enjoyed her co-workers and the many friend she made there. She was a favorite at Regent Care Center Oakwell Farms, where all the wonderful staff members were her "dahlings."

The family will receive friends Sunday, November 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Porter Loring. Graveside service Monday, November 14, 2005, 9:45 a.m. Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. David McNitzky officiation.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements, with Porter Loring Mortuary.
