Elvin (Jack) Drohman Passes Away
Elvin Harvey Drohman, son of George Harvey Drohman and Samantha Susanna Joy Drohman, was born on a farm near Deshler, Nebr., on August 14, 1904. He was baptized as an infant in the Presbyterian Church in Deshler, Nebr.
The family moved to Deshler in 1911 where Elvin attended the Happy Hollow School. He helped his father farm until he married. He was united in marriage to Erna Tamme of Deshler on Sept. 25, 1927 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Deshler. They lived on farms in the Oak, Edgar and Angus communities until 1971 when they moved to Davenport where they lived until his death. His love for the farm and his ability to work was his greatest joy.
Elvin died Monday, Feb. 15, 1988 at the Thayer Co. Hospital in Hebron at the age of 83.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Gladys and Mae and one granddaughter, Robin Drohman.
Surviving are his wife, Erna, four children, Glen and wife Bonnie of Lincoln, Virgil and wife Dorothy of Boulder, Colo., Loren and wife, Virginia of Nelson, Nebr. And Karen Gross and husband Wayne of Grand Island; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mabel Cassell and Inez Littlewood of Ellensburg, Wash.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 18, 1988 at Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport, Nebr.
Marsha Cline sang "In the Garden" and "The Lord's Prayer." Doris Keim was the organist.
Pastor Don L. Hunzeker officiated at the service.
Casket bearers were Brian Gross, Rodney Drohman, Gary Drohman, Douglas Drohman, Ronnie Drohman, Bruce Oster, Kevin Stout, Daniel Johnson and Ed Duree.
Burial was in the Davenport Cemetery. Urbauer Funeral Home of Davenport was in charge of arrangements.
