LOYSVILLE - Ethel M. Hess, 90, of Loysville passed away Saturday May 3, 2008 in the Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Ethel was born October 4, 1917 at Blain to the late Jacob and Annie Neidigh Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max D. Hess and her siblings, Lottie Shambaugh, Levi Smith, Billy Smith, Helen Gutshall, Laura Flickinger, Alice Flickinger, Grace Evans, John Smith and Ida Johnson.
She was a homemaker and had worked at the former Blain Garment Factory. She was a former sunday school teacher at the Manassa Community Church. She was a member of the Landisburg Ambulance Club and the Landisburg Fire Company. She enjoyed sewing; baking; cooking; gardening and her family.
Surviving are a son, Richard L. Hess and wife Connie of Loysville, a daughter, Karla J. Mitten and husband Rick of Landisburg, three grandchildren, David Hess and wife Amy of Loysville, Jennifer Mitten and Joshua Mitten, both of Landisburg, two great-grandchildren, Kirsten and Kelsi Hess of Loysville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday May 7, 2008 in the Nickel Funeral Home, 3626 Shermans Valley Road, Loysville with the Rev. David Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Blain Cemetery. Viewing will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday and 10 to 11 AM Wednesday in the funeral home.
