Mickie passed from this world Feb. 11, 2024, at 100 years, 7 months old. She was born in Coeur d'Alene, ID, Aug. 9, 1923. Mickie was the youngest daughter and last remaining child of Fred and Helen Toupin. She graduated from Seattle University with a degree in nursing in 1944. Mickie and her husband, Frank (an engineer for Bonneville Power Administration, BPA), enjoyed 69 years of marriage. In their younger years they moved often for BPA, finally settling on Ludlum Hill in Hazel Dell. Mickie was active in IEEE Auxiliary and two bridge clubs. Frank and Mickie raised three daughters, Carol (Ken Nelson), Nancy (Jim Young) and Patty (Dave Leinweber). Supporting her daughters' interests, Mickie spent years as a Girl Scout leader for all three daughters. Many of those women whose troops she lead still remember her fondly. She enjoyed nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Her long time membership at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church was of primary importance to her. She loved people and made dear friends wherever she went. Mickie enjoyed playing games with her many friends at Vancouver Pointe and was still playing bridge every week. Everyone there got a kick out of her speed at the wheels of her walker.
