Lillian Valerie (Clear) Reynolds, 89, formerly of Roanoke and Waynesboro, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Masonic Village of Sewickley, Pennsylvania.

Born March 7, 1919, in Saltville, she was one of nine children born to the late Troy Benton and Hallie Elizabeth (Fry) Clear.

Mrs. Reynolds met her husband, Raymond L. Reynolds in Waynesboro. Due to World War II he was drafted by the Navy and moved to California. She married her Seabee husband on January 13, 1945, a union that remained strong for 46 years. After his discharge, they moved back to Waynesboro trying a new venture of owning and operating the Right Spot Restaurant for 10 years while she worked for General Electric.

Upon moving back to Santa Ana, California, she had the distinguished honor for 15 years of working as an assimilator for the Apollo Program and also for General Electric, while he worked for CBS. On February 13, 1983, while in Santa Ana, she joined the First United Methodist Church.

Preceding Mrs. Reynolds in death was her husband on February 4, 1991; an infant daughter, Cheryl Lynn Reynolds in 1945; a daughter, Sherri VanFleet in 2004; a sister, Helen Elizabeth Fountaine; and two brothers, Robert C. Clear and Frank J. Clear.

She is survived by two sisters, Betty J. Blankenship of California and Frances M. Rossillo and her husband, Lud of Charleston, South Carolina; three brothers, Benton B. Clear and his wife, Margaret, of Roanoke, Herbert Paul Clear of Roanoke, Donald A. Clear and his wife, Georgia, of Neville Island, Pennsylvania, with whom she made her home most recently; two grandchildren, Shauna Lynn Mejia and Eric VanFleet, both of Kingston, Arizona; three great-grandsons, Carl Richard Nowicki, Brandon Michael Nowicki and Jacob Louis Mejia; and her loving roommate, Kay Loichinger.
