Darlene B. Warren, 65, a devoted wife, mom and maw maw, died May 4, 2008, at her home. Born in Matewan, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Claude and Irene S. Varney. Mrs. Warren is survived by her husband, Terry L. Warren; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael J. and Cher Byrum, Todd K. and Jennifer Byrum, all of Suffolk, Randy A. and Denise B. Byrum of Boykins; sister, Claudette Hedgepeth of Suffolk; brother, J. B. Varney of Suffolk; eight grandchildren, Jonathan, Brandon, Albany, Nathan, Daniel, Zachary, Amanda and Zack. A funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, by the Rev. Dolan A. Talbert with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the V Foundation for Cancer Research, 106 Towerview Court, Cary, NC 27513; Nansemond- Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, VA 23439 or to a charity of one's choice. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
