LEVANT - The funeral for Wilhelmina Ann Wallsmith, 67, Levant, was Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby, the Rev. Henry Kieffer officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Wallsmith died Feb. 9 at the Citizens Medical Center in Colby. She was born Feb. 26, 1920, in Dresden. She had served in the U.S. Air Force Nurse Corps from 1943 to 1946. She and her husband farmed north of Levant for 42 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, altar society, Thomas County Historical Society, Nebraska State Historical Society, and the High Plains Preservation of History Commission. She was preceded in death by three brothers, the Rev. Paul Meitl, Ben Meitl, and Joe Meitl; and a sister, Sister Floreda. Survivors include her husband, Fred of the home; a daughter Beverly French of Admire; four sons, Mike of Taylor, S.C., Philip of Topeka, Thomas of Sedalia, Mo., and Robert of Brewster; a brother Philip Meitl of Oakley; five sisters, Juliana Knopp of Hays, Rosalia Stephens of Jennings, Helen Kruse of Hudson, Colo. Rita Martin of Colby and Ann Cole of Salina; 20 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The Harrison Chapel, Cobly, was in charge of arrangements.
