Dorsey Gilbert Huffman Jr., 81, Clifton Forge, Virginia, died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at The Golden Living Center in Clifton Forge. He was born March 21, 1927 in Craig County, Virginia, a son of the late Dorsey Gilbert Huffman Sr. and Maude Craft Huffman. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and retired as Chief of Police for the City of Clifton Forge. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Genevieve Frances "Genny" Ford Huffman; three brothers, Herbert Huffman, Paul Huffman, and Estridge "Pete" Huffman; and three sisters, Edith "Tootie" Smith, Josephine Huffman, and Frances Huffman. He is survived by a sister, Pauline Gray, of Craig County; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Sharon Huffman, of Arizona; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Ford; a special niece, whom Mr. Huffman thought of as a daughter, Terry Crider and husband, Kenneth, of Fredricksburg; three special great-nephews, whom he thought of as grandsons, Chad, Nicholas, and Eric Crider; and a number of other nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with Pastor Bill Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in Crossroads Cemetery, Craig County. Pallbearers will be Chad Crider, Nicholas Crider, Eric Crider, Jimmy Gray, Billy Gray, and Barry Balser.
