Maggie Mae "Margaret" (Long) Schiefer, 93, of Indiana died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001 at Indiana Hospital.
She was born Sept. 1, 1908 in Ash, N.C. to Rufus and Miranzze Ann (Smith) Long.
Mrs. Schiefer was a cashier for the Quik-Pic Market for 20 years before retiring. She previously worked as a welder in the Norfolk Navy Yard during World War II, where she met her husband.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Indiana, where she was active with the Good Samaritan Sunday School class and Black Circle quilting group.
She enjoyed quilting, sewing and reading.
Survivors include one son, Charles Schiefer of Indiana; one daughter, Louise Ashe of Kittanning; three grandchildren, Benjamin Schiefer, Larry Ashe and Mrs. Andy (Lisa) Kapsak; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Schiefer, who died in 1974; seven brothers; and five sisters.
SCHIEFER - Friends of Maggie Mae "Margaret" (Long) Schiefer, 93, of Indiana, who died Oct. 20, 2001, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Bowser-Minich Funeral Home, Inc., Indiana, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. George E. Porter Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Rossiter. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 398 Church St., Indiana, Pa. 15701. Arrangements by Bowser-Minich.
