He was married Nov. 27, 1888 to Miss Sallie A. Moore of Milledgeville, this county, and to them three children were born, Flo and Zelma deceased in childhood, bef. 1900; and Mott H. living on a farm near Promise City.
Mr. Kennel worked for the C.B. & Q. R.R. for seven years, making the run from Burlington, Ia., to Carrolton, Mo. But for the past 20 years he has lived on the farm just north of the Philadelphia church and in addition to his farm work he engaged in carpentering.
He was converted to the Saviour at about 18 years of age uniting with the United Brethren church in Ohio, and after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Kennel both united with the Methodist Episcopal church in Green Top, Mo., and when they moved to Moulton in association with his R.R. work they united with the church there where the membership remains.
Mr. Kennel began failing in health about the first of last December and has gradually failed since, taking his bed three weeks ago. He realized the seriousness of his condition and was conscious until the end which came at 9:40 p.m., June 2 at the age of 65 years, 5 months and 19 days.
