Charles L Hutchinson was the third oldest mail carrier in the United States when he retired 1 Feb 1946 after completing 42 years as a rural route mail carrier for the Barrington Post Office. He began his career there 15 Jun 1904, one of the first four men to be hired at the Barrington Post Office. For 10 years he drove a team of three horses to the rural area around Barrington. In 1914, he got a mail truck to drive. He had covered about 40 miles daily in his truck.
