Born Sept. 18, 1932, in Spencer, she was the daughter of the late Foster and Della (Bland) Livingston.
She married Robert Eugene "Bob" New on Aug. 18, 1951. He died on April 4, 1989.
She graduated from Spencer High School in 1950.
She worked as a nurse's aid at the Morgan County Memorial Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 1994.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Martinsville.
She enjoyed gardening, playing euchre, doing word search puzzles, mushroom hunting and spending time with her family. She was also an avid Tiger Woods fan.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Jean Heacock, of Martinsville and Vickie Elaine Williams, of Unionville; a brother, Harold Livingston, of Spencer; a sister, Elizabeth Shields, of Spencer; three grandchildren, Chris and Cayla Heacock and Jennifer New; two step-grandchildren, Christina Burress and Shawn Williams; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Loren and Floyd Livingston, and two sisters, Naomi Wood and Ruby Lewis.
A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Neal and Summers Mortuary in Martinsville.
Dr. Mark Poindexter will officiate.
Visiting hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary.
Burial will be in New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.
