Teresa J. “Terry” (New) Heacock, 68, of Martinsville, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020, at I.U. Health Morgan Hospital.
Born Tuesday, October 21, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Barbara (Livingston) New of Martinsville.
Terry was a 1970 graduate of Martinsville High School. She went on to earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from Indiana University Bloomington. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard L. “Rick” Heacock, on June 1, 1974. They lived and taught school in Monrovia and Elkhart briefly before returning to Martinsville, where Terry taught from 1978 until her retirement in 2012.
Terry attended Paragon Christian Church, where she was a song leader. She had an active mind and enjoyed keeping her skills sharp with puzzles and watching game shows. She loved staying active and could often be found at the gym, bowling, golfing, or walking at the city park. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching IU, TCU, and the Indianapolis Colts.
Terry was very family-centric and enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for her family and friends. She loved traveling with Rick and going to the casino. She loved family get-togethers, and she cherished spending time with her grandchildren.
Terry is survived by her husband, Rick; son, Christopher “Chris” Heacock and wife Jaime; daughter, Cayla Rosine and husband Matt; sister, Vickie Williams and husband Zeke; granddaughter, Emma Heacock; and grandson, Lewis Rosine.
Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Costin Funeral Chapel. Services for the family will be private.
