Orvel L. was the son of Rev. Elzie and Effie (Calhoun) YANDELL. He grew to manhood in Latimer County and attended schools there. He married Maggie Hardaway Feb. 03, 1934; they farmed, lived for sometime in California, returning to the place of their nativity, where they reared their four children: Orvel Ray, Frances, Gerald, and Harold Lloyd YANDELL. Orvel and his family were active in the Free Will Baptist Church at Norris, where he served as a deacon for many years, and then entered the ministry where he pastored the Norris Church. Orvel was a kind, compassionate, generous, soft-spoken man, and a man of intregity, who had a good reputation. He was employed by Latimer County when he was killed in a tragic traffic accident.
