Meredith R. Blystone, 78, of Shelocta, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, in Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. She was born April 10, 1934, in Elderton, a daughter of Arthur Milton and Florence Ethel (Ramer) Altman. Meredith graduated from McKeesport High School in 1952, but spent most of her life living in the Gastown and Shelocta areas. She worked as a teller for Integra Bank in Vandergrift for 23 years, retiring in 1994. Meredith was a member of Plumcreek Church of the Brethren and was very active in the congregation, serving as a church deacon and on the memorial fund committee. She loved to cook and spend time with her family, and they will always remember her warm, welcoming and kind spirit. Her memory will be cherished by her sons, Terry L. Blystone, of Creekside, Tim A. Blystone and wife, Davina, of Armstrong Township, Kent V. Blystone and wife, Corrina, of Charleroi, and Kevin V. Blystone and wife, Melanie, of Vandergrift; grandsons, Shawn Matthew Blystone, Kyle Lynn Blystone and Zachary Eugene Blystone; granddaughters, Leanne Marie Blystone Troup and husband, John, and Tara Leigh Fleming Palmer and husband, Bud; and brother, Harold A. Altman, of Kittanning. Meredith was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Harold C. Blystone, who died Feb. 15, 1998; sons, Barry L. Blystone and Rodney E. Blystone; and sister, Myrtle Genevieve Storey. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at the CLARK CHAPEL of the Bauer Funeral Home Inc., 238 S. Main St., Elderton. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28, in the funeral home with the Rev. Randy Derck officiating. Burial will be in Whitesburg Presbyterian Cemetery, Kittanning.
