Purcell was born
May 28, 1924, in Olney to William Monroe and Annie May (Hampton) Breger. She died April 23, in Pryor.
She grew up and attended school in Olney. She married Bennie F. Purcell on March 19, 1944, in Bastrop, Texas. They lived in the Coalgate and Olney areas until 1946 when they moved to Rose, then to Locust Grove in 1950. She worked as a house wife on a farm for many years. During World War II, she worked at Spartans in Tulsa. She also worked at the Ammunition Depot in McAlester, Boeing in Wichita, Kan., Yarn Mill in Pryor for 12 years, a grocery store and café. She loved to sew and make quilts and pillows.
She is survived by her son, Elwood Purcell and wife Bessie, Locust Grove; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; five sisters, Dorothy May Roebuck, Lila Marie Taylor, Teresa Ann Gustason, Mary Frances Roebuck and Pauline Hunt; and two brothers, Carl Abraham Breger and Otta O'Dell Breger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bennie, in 2002; one daughter, Sophia Nadine Purcell; one son, Carl Lewis Purcell; two brothers and one half-brother.
