Monticello, Mississippi, June 20,
Two Lawrence County farmers and two boys drowned in the Pearl River about 12 miles south of here when their fishing boat overturned, Sheriff N. S. Lambert said today.
Lambert identified the victims as Everett Brister, 40, of the Divide Church community, Willard Barnett, 35, also of Divide, and Barnett's two sons, Charles, 12, and Billy, 5.
The Sheriff said two other boys in the boat were rescued.
The bodies were recovered early today with the aid of the Natchez fire department and the state highway patrol, Lambert said.
Funeral services for Brister, who is survived by his wife and three children, will be held tomorrow near here.
Barnett is survived by his wife and five other children. Funeral arrangements for him and his two sons were incomplete.
