Mary CONE is traditionally thought to be the daughter of the Rev. William CONE Sr. & Keziah BARBER, and the wife, first, by about 1805, of
• David LEE Jr. (born about 1785, son of David LEE Sr. R.S. & Elizabeth MCALLISTER - David was murdered in 1816, and HIS BURIAL PLACE IS UNKNOWN - NEITHER HAVE WE ANY PROOF THAT HE HAD A FIRST NAME), and then, by 1820, of
• George W. BEST (born 1788-1794 in North Carolina, son of John BEST R.S. & Martha WILLIAMS - George died after 1880, probably in Effingham County).

Mary CONE & David LEE Jr. were the parents of six children:
• Elizabeth LEE
James LEE, born 1807, who married Mary E. ANDERSON in 1826 in Screven County,
• Keziah LEE, born about 1810, who became the wife of Hezekiah AMBROSE I in 1829 in Effingham County, and then of his brother William AMBROSE in 1844 in Effingham County,
• Joseph LEE, born 1811-1813, who became the first husband of Catharine PARKER LEE CAIL in 1832 in Screven County (their only child was Joseph Ann Elizabeth LEE COX COX, "Joanna" - widowed and remarried, she and her family settled in Alachua County, Florida),
David M. LEE, born 1814, who married Elizabeth Ann MCGEE in 1837 in Screven County, and
Mary LEE, who was born in 1816 and was married in 1833 in Screven County to James PARKER Jr..
