Walter A.L. Berg, 69, a retired logger, passed away Monday, Oct. 20, in Port Orchard. Mr. Berg was born in Wollochet and resided in Tacoma and Gig Harbor all of his life. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Terri Ann Vail, Snohomish; five sisters, Mrs. Josephine Gillis, Seattle, Mrs. Florence Robinson and Mrs. Mildred Jones, both of Port Orchard, Mrs. Frances Denton, Gig Harbor and Mrs. Ruby Rouse, Lakebay; one grandson.

Anna Christine Berkheimer, 94, died Tuesday, May 9, 1989 in Gig Harbor. Born Oct. 25, 1894 in Snohomish, she grew up in Bothell and moved to Gig Harbor in 1927. She was a homemaker. She and her husband, Reuben, opened the first hardware store in Gig Harbor. She was active in the Fortnightly Literary Guild, the Arts and Crafts Club and the Garden Club and a lifelong member of the Waconda Chapter of Eastern Star. She loved gardening and crafts and worked with ceramics until age 92. She attended the First Baptist Church of Gig Harbor. Surviving family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Ray Arnold of Gig Harbor, four grandchildren: Gail (Mrs. Dale) Rush of Tacoma, Larry and Greg Arnold of Gig Harbor, and Joy (Mrs. Don) Tyree of Gig Harbor; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Siblings: Carl, Josephine (Gillis), Myrtle (Carlson), Florence (Smith, Robinson), Walter, Eleanor (Rouse), Ruben, Frances (Denton), Mildred (Danforth, Jones), Ruby (Blondell, Rouse) and Opal.

Survived by daughter, 5 sisters, grandson.
