Marilynne Harrington Obituary


Marilynne E. Harrington, passed away peacefully on Saturday night February 10, 2024 at the Rivers Edge Community Care Home in Bennington, VT. She had been a resident at the "RECC" since November 25, 2021.


Born on September 13, 1929, she was the third of eight children born to William "Bill" and Gwendoline "Gertrude" (Bump) Hall in Shaftsbury, Vermont. During the summer of 1945, she met and fell in love with a young sailor, Clifford B. Harrington, just coming home from World War II. They were married on January 25, 1946 and together built a home and raised three sons at Meadow Lane in Shaftsbury, Vermont. They loved doing everything together, seldom would you see one without the other. Her husband and children came first before anything else in her life.


In her earlier years she worked at the Tansitor Electronics Company and finished out her career at the Union Carbide in Bennington. She loved her jewelry and made many pieces from stones and gems that her husband and her found during "Rock Hounding."


Marilynne is survived by her son; Randolph "Gomer" Harrington of Bennington, VT, her youngest son Rickey L. and his wife Donna M. Harrington of Glastenbury, VT, her sisters; Roberta Reynolds of Shaftsbury and Donna Pradon of Sebago, Maine. Marilyn is also survived by her grandsons; Joel, Nathan, Rueben and David and her only granddaughter, April, 4 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.


Marilynne was predeceased by her husband, Clifford B. Harrington, her son, Clifford G. Harrington, her brothers, Rufus Hall, William "Stubby" Hall, Richmond Hall, and two sisters; Fabiola Wilson and Rose "Helen" Squires.


Friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home 628 Main Street in Bennington on Friday February 16, 2024, from 3:00-5:00 PM. Graveside services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.


Marilynne's family would like to publicly thank the caregivers at the Rivers Edge Community Care Home for all of their patience and love shown to their mother during the last 26 months of her life. very much appreciated.
