Obituary – The funeral services for Henry Beckman was held Saturday, Nov. 1 in the American Lutheran Church with Rev. Earl Barnard officiating. Music was furnished by Leon Newell accompanied by Mrs. Herb Jundt. Pallbearers were Bernard, Stanley and Carl Beckman, Clifford, Charles and Melvin Green, nephews of Mr. Beckman. Henry Beckman was born Oct. 7, 1883 to Carl and Bertha Erickman Beckman in Renville County, Minn. As a young man, he moved with his parents to Canada for two years where he father farmed. One of the original homesteaders of the Baker area, he came here in the spring of 1908 with his brother Alick and Oscar Ness and homesteaded one mile northwest of the two site. He lived on his farm until his death except for two years spent as a cabinetmaker in Washington. During his first year in Baker, he worked with his brother, John in the dairy business. In additional to farming he was a carpenter and built many of the early day himes as well as the K.C. and Willard halls. He and Elsie Quinlan were married in Baker, May 26, 1914. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church, Homesteaders Club and for many years was chairman of the Fallon County Cemetery Association. He was preceded in death by three sons, three brothers and three sisters. He passed away Oct. 30, after an illness of three weeks. Burial was in Bonnievale Cemetery. Survivors included his widow; three daughters, Mrs. Alice Betternhausen, Mrs. Jean Stenerson and Mrs. Willa Mae Flint; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Roger Michels, Libby; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Beckman, Whitehall; Mrs. Effie Beckman, Mr. and Mrs. Loy green and Lindy Ness, Miles City; Carl Beckman and sons, Broadus: Mrs. and Mrs. Melvin Green, Jordan; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Green, Volborg: Mr. and Mrs. Barnard Beckman, Kinsey; Mrs. Julia Olson, Belle Fourche, S. Dak; Mrs. Lloyd Moneur, Camp Crook, S.Dak: Tami Stenerson, Dickinson, N. Dak: Mrs. Freda Flint and Mrs. Glen Grist, Minot, N. Dak. And Brian Flint, Denver Colo. –
