Our beloved mother, Elsie Joyce Lane, went home to be with the Lord on April 22, 2008 in Austin. She was a devout Southern Baptist, an avid gardener, a retired banker and a member of the Steel Magnolia gospel choir in San Marcos. She enjoyed spending time with her many close friends and family – sharing a meal, talking, laughing, and playing dominos or cards. She led the Saints Alive Senior Adult group at First Baptist Church for several years. She loved springtime – birds singing, beautiful blossoms and mowing her yard on her John Deere tractor. She is survived by two brothers Buddy Wiegand (and his wife, Jo) and Kenny Wiegand, and one sister, Peggy McArthur (and husband, Roland). She is also survived by a daughter, Doris Story (and husband, James) of Austin, and a son, Bill Lane (and his wife, Sherryl) of Atlanta, Georgia. She cherished six grandchildren, Jason and Nick Story, and Austin, Brendan, Christina, and Kaitlin Lane. Family will receive friends at Pennington Funeral Home, from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight. Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, April 25 at the First Baptist Church in San Marcos, with the Rev. Mark Newton officiating. Private interment in the San Marcos Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 325 W. McCarty Lane, San Marcos or the charity of your choice. The family gives heartfelt thanks to Southwest Regional Cancer Center and Hospice Austin for their outstanding care of Elsie. You will keep in perfect peace, him whose mind is steadfast because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3. Arrangements under the care and guidance of Pennington Funeral Home, 323 North Comanche, San Marcos, 353-4311.
