Wife of Clifford and mother of Jean Hope and Mildred Rugg. She married Clifford Earl Rugg 3/30/1922 with Jacob Van Ness officiating. Witnesses were Willard H and Mildred C Peck.
Marion's middle name is possibly due to her mother's admiration for Henry Harland (1 March 1861 – 20 December 1905) an American novelist and editor. However Marion Harland was very popular in 1896. That was the pen name for Mary Virginia Hawes Terhune who enjoyed great success as an author of books on housewifery etc..
Shower and Wedding Gifts in 1922 by Dave Peck Heritage Hunters President.
In 1922, a century ago, my father's oldest sister, Marion H. Peck 1896-1977, married Clifford E. Rugg 1894-1974. My great aunt Mary J. Peck
1880-1978 gave a shower for her niece attended by many local relatives and friends. The Saratoga County History Roundtable is currently making videos
about small towns, called Forgotten Crossroads. The second video will be about Bacon Hill, my home village, and I'm helping with that. Looking through
old albums handed down by the bride and groom to their granddaughter, Jennifer Bean Thomas, I came upon a summary of the shower and wedding gifts
listed by my great aunt Mary J., reproduced below. After much research, I was able to provide the names, life spans and relationships of those listed.
