Edward Arthur Trofholz Jr. was born on October 26, 1932, in Columbus, to Edward and Bertha (Ingold) Trofholz Sr.

He grew up in Columbus and graduated from Kramer High School in 1950.

He worked at the Marion H. Van Berg horse racing stables and at Nielsen Chevrolet before entering the military.

Ed served in the United States Army during the Korean War from February 26, 1953, until his honorable discharge on December 16, 1954.

On April 6, 1955, Ed was united in marriage to Patricia Drew.

After his military service, Ed worked for Behlen Manufacturing for 20 years before going to work for BD Construction as a crane operator for over 20 years.

Ed was a lifelong resident of Columbus and a member of the American Legion and VFW, serving as a volunteer at the VFW for many years and was a strong supporter of Columbus High School football and basketball.

He was also an avid Nebraska sports fan, especially Husker football and volleyball, being a football season ticket holder for over 50 years.

He enjoyed bowling and playing softball, playing with his coworkers in softball tournaments, and in 1983, at the age of 50, played in the national 35 and above slow pitch softball tournament.

Ed loved to fish and hunt and hang out at the trailer at Lake Millie in Fullerton, Nebraska.
