An avid Star Trek fan, Janet (Bobi) Carol Bobrowski was "beamed up" to her eternal resting place on July 31, 2023. Born in Chicago, she moved to Orlando when she was three years old. She attended Bishop Moore High School before transferring to Oak Ridge High School where she graduated in 1972. She later earned her nursing degree from Valencia College.
Janet was hired as one of Walt Disney World's first Tour Guides in 1971. She stayed in touch with many members of her tour Guides in 1971. She stayed in touch with many members of her tour guide family, as well as high school friends, and enjoyed reunion events.
Her career was in the medical profession. She served as the office manager for a medical practice before becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), then a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) working in the emergency department at Orlando Regional Medical Center (now Orlando Health) and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. After becoming a Registered Nurse (RN), she returned to the ORMC emergency department and later served as a cardiac care nurse at Florida Hospital (now AdventHealth) as well as a traveling nurse primarily in Sebring and Lake Placid, Florida. Most recently, she educated Medicaid patients as a telemedicine health coach.
She was passionate about her Polish heritage, family genealogy, and travel, most recently visiting England including Liverpool – the birthplace of her favorite band, the Beatles. She had "let it be" tattooed on her wrist during a trip to New Orleans.

Always witty, Janet named her beloved rescue cats after notable characters and people she admired: Arlo (Arlo Guthrie), Alley (Alice B. Toklas), and Buzz and Inga after the catchphrase of The Big Bang Theory's character, Sheldon Cooper – Bazinga! She also cared for a stray cat named Patty who lived on her patio. Get it? Patio. Patty. Her generosity and care gave these cats - FIVE for those of you counting – a second chance at a happy ending.
Janet was preceded in death by her father, Leo Bobrowski, and is survived by her mother, Carol D Bobrowski, and sisters, Laurel Smith, Holly Bobrowski, and Christine Bobrowski Wydra, and brothers-in-law, Mike Smith and Kevin Wydra. She was a fantastic aunt who spoiled her nieces and nephew, Bailey Smith Hulslander, Abbie Wydra, and Jackson Wydra, along with Bailey's husband, Ryan, and their sons, Grant and Emory.
Friends and colleagues are invited to celebrate Janet's life with family at a casual happy hour – jeans, T-shirts, scrubs, and Star Trek costumes welcome – on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 6 pm to 8 pm (to accommodate 7 to 7 nursing shifts) at The Mayflower at Winter Park, 1620 Mayflower Court, Winter Park, FL 32792. Guests will be encouraged to choose a shot glass to take home to remember Janet from her overwhelmingly vast collection.
In lieu of flowers, consider supporting other cat hoarders by donating to an animal rescue organization of your choice in memory of Janet, or to her enabler organization, T.E.A.R.S. of Seminole County at tearsofseminolecounty.org/donate (in "special instructions to the seller" please add "Janet Bobrowski").
