George was the son of Rhoby Annette Anderson and Wesley Clark Humes, born in Meadville, Crawford, Pennsylvania. By the 1910 Census he was living in Pagosa Springs, Colorado with his wife Pearl Lee Kinser Humes. They had five children: Clarence, James Hallie, Violet, Cecil Kinser, and Mattie (she went by Marie in later years).

Pearl and George Divorced in the early 1930's. He and the two oldest boys stayed in Pagosa Springs. I believed he worked for Colorado Division of Highways most of his life. He died in Santa Cruz shortly after he went to live with his daughter Violet.
