Geraldine G. Allen 85, of Allentown, died July 7, 2009, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Walter F. Allen and the late Joseph L. Kern. She was a former hostess at the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home Inc., Allentown, for many years. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe M. and L. Edna (Davis) Diehl. She was a church member and choir member of the former St. Andrews United Church of Christ, Allentown. Currently, she was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, Allentown.
Survivors: Husband; daughters, Eileen G., wife of Bruce R. Downing, of Allentown and Judith G. Atherholt of Hellertown, sisters, Marguerite E. Rice and Faith J. Kuntz, both of Allentown and Helen S. Snyder of Whitehall; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert M. Kern II, sister, Martine P. Weaver and brothers, Roscoe M. Diehl, Kenneth R. Diehl, Theodore K. Diehl and Benjamin F. Diehl.
Services: will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th and Hamilton streets, Allentown. Call on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
