Peacefully in her sleep, on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Highview Residences, Kitchener. Erma was born on June 19, 1923, to Christian and Veronica (Boshart) Roth and raised on the Hastings Belmont farm in Crosshill, Ontario. She celebrated her 100th birthday this year. She was one of 11 children, having 3 brothers and 7 sisters. Survived by her sister, Viola Wagler and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Christian and Veronica (Boshart) Roth and siblings Mary (Simeon) Jantzi, Sarah (Ohmer) Gerber, William (Cora) Roth, Annie (David) Jantzi, Mahlon (Mary) Roth, Samuel (Anna Mae) Roth, Eileen (David) Roth, Laurene (Ivan) Nafziger, Omar Wagler and Ruth (Leon) Shantz. Erma was a faithful member of Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, Kitchener. She also was a member of the Waterloo County Quilter's Guild and enjoyed painting landscapes in oil, which have found a home with many of her nieces and nephews. Erma had worked at the Arrow Shirt Factory (Cluetts) and Bingeman's Catering Services. Erma's family is grateful for all the amazing people who have been part of her life these past few years. Thank you to her caregivers at Highview Residences, especially Amy and Katlynne, for their friendship, compassion, and exceptional care of Erma as her cognitive ability and mobility decreased. She was always treated with dignity and respect. A special thank you to her nieces Penny and Maryanne, who were Erma's advocates. Also to Kylie Erma's great-niece, who also assisted with Erma's care decisions. Friends may visit with the family at Crosshill Mennonite Church, 2537 Hutchinson Road, Crosshill on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 1 p.m. til time of funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at Rush's Cemetery. Pastor Glenda Rozomiak of Stirling Mennonite Church officiating. In celebration and memory of Erma, donations may be made to Stirling Mennonite Church, or the Grand River Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. The funeral service will be streamed, a link can be found on the funeral home website. Arrangements entrusted to the Futher-Franklin Funeral Home, Wellesley.
