"Norwich Gazette, 14 October, 1880
Dr. Carder departed this life on Wednesday, the 6th inst. He had been confined to the house for many years. Twenty years ago he weighed 130 lbs. and at the time of his death weighed 300 lbs. He was found dead in his bed in his 70th year. The family has the sympathy of the community." *

George was "an entrepreneur owning much property including several sawmills. He was listed as a general merchant from 1845-1861. Two of the mills were in the Hawtrey area where he resided in the 1870's." From "South of Sodom, A History of South Norwich"*

Son of Joseph Carder and Mary Dixon.
George attended the College of Physician and Surgeons, Fairfield, Herkimer, New York. His local residence was Columbia, Herkimer, NY.
He married Caroline Dertick, daughter of Ira Dertick amd Perris Loomis, on 5 October, 1834, in Herkimer, New York.
George and Caroline were the parents of five known children: James Monro, Dennison Delos, Francis Amenzo, Emily and Marshall Dixon Carder.
Buried in the same cemetery as his father. Age 72 years, a native of Richfield, New York.

Contrary to family records, Caroline died after 1881, when she is listed on the 1881 Canadian census, age 72, widowed, living with son Amenzo, in Norwich, Oxford, Ontario, Canada. The family recorded above them is that of son James Monro Carder and his family.
Her sister-in-law, Henrietta Carder Clark, was also living near them.
