George was born and raised near Frankfurt, Germany. He served in the United States Air Force for 26 years as a contract administrator before joining the civil service work force after his retirement from the military.
He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Mary Blackwell (nee Bloss) and son, George Michael Blackwell. Stepchildren James McWha, Sarah Rose, and Ben McWha; Leanna Blanchard and Zoe Blanchard and their families and one sister, Liliane Benucci.
A funeral service for George will be held on Wednesday, Jan 17th at 10:00am, at The Orthodox Church of the Holy Cross, 11 Wilkins Station Rd., Medford, NJ 08055. Military honors and interment at B.G. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be held privately.
George died of acute myeloid leukemia after a two year fight. He had previously survived colon cancer 10 years earlier.
