Joan D. Schuh, age 88, formerly of Valders, passed away Thursday morning, January 11, 2024 at Sylvan Crossings, Manitowoc.

Joan was born on March 8, 1935 in Reedsville, WI, daughter of the late Ervin and Mary (Mancoske) Maertz. Joan graduated from Reedsville High School with the class of 1954. She then continued her education at County Normal Teaching College in Manitowoc.

In September of 1957 she married Charles Schuh in Waukegan, IL. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1988.

She held various teaching positions in rural Manitowoc County. Joan spent many years raising her children and grandchildren before retiring as the "Candy Lady" at Fleet Farm. She enjoyed attending the many sporting and music events. of her children and grandchildren. She loved gardening, reading and crosswords puzzles. Joan was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewers fan. She was beloved by her grandchildren for her "grandma ham" at family gatherings. Joan was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Valders and a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children: Charles (Debbie) Schuh, Manitowoc, Kelly ( Bruce) Hansen, Kiel, Lisa (Steven) Brandl, Valders, Tammy (Doug) Meyer, Valders, Pam Schuh, Valders, Jerry (Lisa) Schuh, Cato, Peter (Christine) Schuh, Green Bay, Jamie Schuh, Valders, her grandchildren: Allysha, Lindsay (Nathan), Daniel (Lindsay), Chris (special friend, Megan), Lauren (special friend, Zach), Abbey (Jake), Mara (Trevor), Zach (Special friend Lauren), Jacob (special friend, Haley), Haley, Peyton, her great grandchildren: Lennon, Ellie, Cole, Mercy, Brooke, Colt, Arlo, her siblings: Bernita Dallman, Karen Halverson, Donald (Mary Kay) Maertz, Faye (Wayne) Rusch, Roger Maertz, Bruce (Sharon) Maertz, Jeff Maertz and special friend, Ann, Vicki (Jeff) Rolf, two sisters-in-law: Peggy Maertz and Sharon Schuh. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Joan was also preceded in death by: two grandsons; Alex Brandl and Samuel Schuh, her siblings; Shirley (Lowell) Johns, Jerry Maertz, Janice (Jerry) Mulhaney, Henry Dallman, Dennis Maertz. She was also preceded in death by her husband's siblings and their spouses.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM on Wednesday January 17, 2024 at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday January 17, 2024 at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders. Officiating at the service will be Pastor Dan Lyman. Burial will take place at Valders West Cemetery.
