On August 21, 1965 he married Peggy Stedl at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville.
Jerry was employed with Crafts Inc. for 34 years. In his retirement, Jerry enjoyed cutting grass, horse pulls, riding his golf cart around Reedsville, sports, especially the Brewers & Packers, reading the newspaper, polka music, and spending time with his grandkids.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years: Peggy, Reedsville; his children: Tom (Amy) Maertz, Darboy, Amy (John) Lischka, Pembine, Becky (Casey) Taddy, Reedsville, Jason (Jennifer) Maertz, Reedsville; a daughter-in-law: Kristie Maertz, Reedsville; his grandchildren: Mitchell Maertz, Nicole (Kyle) Voltz, Andy (Chelsea) Brown, Spencer Brown, Seth Maertz & special friend Kaley, Paige Maertz, Shawn Lischka, Thomas Lischka, Bradley Lucia and special friend Danielle, Tyler Lischka and special friend Sam, Mason Lischka and special friend Mackenzie, Hunter Lischka, Morgan, Carson, Brooklin and Harper Taddy, Logan, Landon and Gavin Maertz; and great grandchildren: Charlotte, Eastyn, Dayton, Jaxon and Alexandria. Also surviving are his siblings: Joan Schuh, Bernita Dallmann, Karen Halverson, Donald (Mary Kay) Maertz, Faye (Wayne) Rusch, Roger Maertz, Bruce (Sharon) Maertz, Jeffrey Maertz and special friend Ann, and Victoria (Jeff) Rolf; and sisters-in-law: Jean (Bill) Jandrin and Beth (Roy) Kiel. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law: Raymond "Butch" and Anastasia Stedl, a loving son: Todd Maertz; siblings: Shirley (Lowell) Johns, Janice (Jerry) Mulhaney, Dennis Maertz, and in-laws: Chuck Schuh and Henry Dallmann.
Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 pm. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Brillion. Officiating will be Deacon Greg Van Thiel. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Reedsville.
The family with greet relatives and friends at the church on Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Sharon Richardson Hospice and to all his family and friends for their prayers and visits.
