Leo Adams Obituary
Leo R. Adams
Leo R. Adams, 76, of East Brady, formerly of Karns City and Petrolia, died Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 25, 1928, in Kaylor, Armstrong County, he was the son of Ralph and Josephine Phillips Adams.
He attended Fairview Township High School and earned a bachelor of arts degree from Elysion College of Liberal Arts in Rosarito Beach, Calif. He also earned a doctor of metaphysics degree from Neotarian College, Kansas City, Mo.; and did studies at the Ambassador College Bible Correspondence Course.
He retired in 1977 as a construction inspector II for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation after 20 years.
Mr. Adams enjoyed playing the guitar. He was a volunteer at East Brady Heights and was instrumental in starting and the ongoing publishing of "The Senior Expression," a monthly East Brady Heights publication. He was a recipient of a President's Volunteer Service Award.
During the Korean War, he was an Army corporal in Headquarters and Headquarters Co. 61st Infantry Regiment and received the Good Conduct Medal.
He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church of Bradys Bend and the Missionary Association of Mary Immaculate. He also belonged to the American Society of Highway Engineers and the American Legion Post 402 of East Brady.
Surviving are two brothers, Samuel Adams of Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, and Andrew Adams of Epsyville, Crawford County; three sisters, Anna Stevenson of Chicora and Nora Eyth and Josephine Stivision, both of Butler. Also surviving is Dustin Walthour of Butler, whom he helped raise.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers.
ADAMS - Friends of Leo R. Adams, who died Saturday, June 25, 2005, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at CHARLES B. BUECHELE FUNERAL HOME, 105 Fourth St., East Brady. Funeral services will be at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. William Kuba, pastor of St. Eusebius Roman Catholic Church of East Brady, officiating.
American Legion Post 402 will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
