Born in Brooklyn, NY on June 25, 1943 to Francis and Domenica "Emily" (Francesco) Lucadamo, Gene was the oldest of four children. He attended Hofstra University, graduating with a degree in engineering. In 1968, he enlisted to serve his country in Vietnam. Gene completed two tours of duty with the 82nd Airborne, making several jumps into active combat. He received a Purple Heart for his service, among other honors.
Following the war, Gene worked for many years as a manager at Brooklyn Union Gas, and as an engineer for Sikorsky Aircraft. Later in life, he was a realtor, working with Weichert and Keller Williams. Gene was a fair minded and diplomatic boss, always putting people first. A strong believer in compromise, he was known to go out of his way to take weight off his employees' shoulders. Gene brightened up any workplace with his smiles and his stories. That slow, rumbling laugh, characteristic of him, brought an answering grin to many faces.
Gene's sense of humor was legendary. He was a keen judge of people, strong-minded and unafraid to tell things as he saw them. He had an immense capacity for love, and devoted it all to his family and friends. When he cared for someone, he cared with his entire being; he was always there when needed, ready with a gentle word --- or, in truly desperate situations, a goofy joke, bound to get people laughing. Gene had a passion for golfing and collecting artwork.
Gene became a father late in life, fulfilling his dream of starting a family. He devoted himself to his daughter Emilie, serving as her steady support, guiding hand, and shoulder to cry on. One of his happiest moments was attending his daughter's high school graduation.
Gene is survived by his beloved daughter Emilie; by their shared dog, Evie; and by his devoted sister-in-law Ann. Also by sister Theresa "Dee" Lekanides, her husband Paul, and their children, Tanya and Paul Jr; niece Gina Adams and her children Margaret and Jack; nephews John and Frank Frivau, and Beau DeLuca; and brother Frank. He is predeceased by his loving parents, Francis and Emily, and sister Margaret DeLuca.
