Nina Avery was born June 30, 1919, in Lilley Township to John M. and Golda Ruth (David) Avery. She had always lived in the Lake County area and married William Wallace April 10, 1943 in Baldwin. He preceded her in death Aug. 22, 1963.
She was the oldest living member of the Baldwin Baptist Church where she had been a member since 1963. The church was an important part of her life, and she was a member of the ladies group and the choir, as well as a long time teacher in the Sunday School program.
Nina was talented in painting with oils. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She leaves many cherished memories to three children, William John Wallace, of Baldwin, Cathy (William) Walter, of Nirvana, and Pamela (Steven) Forstner, of Baldwin; son-in-law Kreeno DeWitt, of Hastings; grandchildren, Kreena Tasava, of Hastings, Tina Cullers, of Middleville, William De Witt, of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Tyler Walter of Nirvana; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Nora Crandall, of Munising, Carl (Elsie) Avery, of Nirvana, June O'Neill of Chase, Georgene (John) Lanahan, of Paris, and John (Connie) Avery, of Nirvana; sister-in-law Alice Cox, of Baldwin; and many nieces and nephews.
Nina was preceded in death by her husband, by her parents, daughter, Louise DeWitt, and brother Marion Avery.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 18, at the Baldwin Baptist Church in Baldwin with Rev Dave Stiles officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Plains Township Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to Vida Funeral Home in Baldwin.
