Thea Therese Pfeiffer Chiles, age 94, of Vandalia, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, December 29, 2023. She was born November 9, 1929, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to the late Casper and Laura Klein Pfeiffer. Thea has been an active member of Saint Christopher Catholic Church since 1959, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and lecturing. Since 1979, she has been a member of Sister Cities of Vandalia, having served as president and board member. During her membership, she enjoyed several visits to Sister Cities of Lichtenfels, Germany, and Prestwick, Scotland. She was a charter member of the Dayton District Women's Golf Association and served as a board member, vice-president and tournament director. Thea greatly loved her family and found enjoyment in reading, golfing, ceramics, music, time with friends and traveling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her loving husband of 63 years, Robert B. Chiles, in 2015; her beloved daughter, Laura Lyday; five siblings, James, John, Rita, Lawrence and Dorothy; and other relatives. Thea is survived by: four sons, Timothy J. Chiles, and wife, Jetta, of Spring, Texas, Christopher R. Chiles, and wife, Jennifer, of Alvaton, Kentucky, Gregory S. Chiles, of Vandalia, and Carl A. Chiles, of West Carrollton; a sister, Jo Ann Hogan, of Little Suamico, Wisconsin; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; her extended family; and many good friends.

The family will be receiving friends from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 5, at Saint Christopher Catholic Church, 435 East National Road, Vandalia. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. by Rev. Fr. John Tonkin. Interment will follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to: Ohio Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45420; or Saint Christopher Catholic Church, 435 East National Road, Vandalia, Ohio 45377.
