Alice, a London-born daughter of James Winter, was first married to Harry Thomas Good in 1882. He died in 1884, just two years after they married. They had no children together.

She then married Henry Arthur Slatter in 1887 in London, and they had four children together: Arthur Albert, John Henry, Dorothy Florence, and William Matthew (died young).

Alice and Henry moved to Vancouver about 1913, where he was bandmaster of the 72d Seaforth Highlanders. She died on Christmas Day of 1914 and was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver.
