Married Margaret Catherine Sainte on January 13, 1900 at Vancouver, British Columbia. They were separated by 1916.Stephen served for a time as the city waterworks superintendent for Vancouver until 1913. Most of the fresh water supply to the city to that time was developed by him. During World War One he served overseas with the Canadian Engineers. Although overage, he was retained for service first with the Pioneers, and later with the Canadian Railway Troops, building water supply systems. After the war he went into private practice as a consultant, and as a deep sea diver. He drowned while making repairs to a water intake conduit at the Ocean Falls Dam.Source for amendments is his CEF file and several local newspaper stories.
